Course Description

This mosaic tile class is designed for students who want to approach mosaic art by learning the fundamental tile cutting techniques used in traditional mosaic practice.

The course focuses primarily on marble tile cutting, the most widely used material in classical mosaic, while also introducing the cutting of glass and ceramic mosaic tiles.

During this two-day individual course at the In Tessere Mosaic School in Italy, students learn how to recognize the main mosaic materials and how to correctly use professional cutting tools.

Participants practice different tile cutting methods through guided exercises designed to develop manual skills, precision and control when shaping mosaic tesserae.

The course does not focus on producing a finished artwork. Instead, it provides a strong technical foundation for students who wish to continue with more advanced mosaic classes.

Program

Day 1

Morning
Introduction to mosaic materials including marble, glass and ceramic tiles, and presentation of professional cutting tools.

Afternoon
Practical exercises focused on marble tile cutting and basic tile cutting techniques.

Day 2

Guided practical exercises focused on cutting marble, glass and ceramic mosaic materials to develop precision and control.

Certificate of participation delivered at the end of the course.

The deposit is non-refundable and valid for one year. The reservation amount will be deducted from the total course price.

The course is taught in Italian by the instructor Tiziana Mondini. Possibility of translation into English, Spanish, or French by a professional translator present during the lessons.

The mosaic school in Tessere is open all year round and follows national holidays.
