Intensive Roman Mosaic Course - Individual course - 40 hours (5 days) at the In Tessere mosaic school

Course of 40 hours (5 days) at Scuola In Tessere, Via della Stazione 32, Narni Scalo (TR), Italy.

80% practical, 20% theoretical lessons in person. Each student is followed by the teacher as if he were following a private lesson. Personalized and individual training courses.

Customizable calendar: course start date + subdivision of daily lesson hours chosen by the student. The school configures its mosaic courses as personalized and tailor-made training courses for its students.

Teacher: Tiziana Mondini, master mosaicist and artist with over 20 years of experience

Certification: at the end of the course a nominal certificate will be issued with an indication of the type of course and hours attended.

The works performed during the course will remain with the student

Materials and equipment necessary for carrying out the course provided by the school.

Course enrollment includes:

  • participation in the course according to the agreed timetable,
  • 1 mosaic tool set as a gift,
  • 1 video-tutorial with a step-by-step explanation of the chosen mosaic technique,
  • paper handouts for the theoretical study of the mosaic and its history*.

*The tools listed above will remain the property of each student even after the course.

Synthetic program of the course:

  • history of the mosaic,
  • Exercises and various laying methodologies,
  • Study of execution techniques,
  • Choice and realization of the sketch,
  • Execution of a Roman mosaic work .

Wonderful Experience

As part of our 3 month trip in Italy my wife and I enrolled in a 40-hour course in Roman mosaics offered by Tiziana Mondini (In Tessere Scuola di Mosaico) in Umbria. This was outside our comfort zones as scientists, and as intermediate-level students of the language. We had a wonderful experience in every respect and recommend the course to anyone who would be visiting Italy long enough for the churches and museum to begin looking all alike.

Tiziana is a skilled and dedicated teacher as well as accomplished artist. We we were able to complete 6 mosaics using three different techniques that we will be taking home, along with tools to continue making mosaics

Tiziana was very accommodating as to the scheduling. We opted for spreading the 40 hours over 2 weeks so that we would have days off for day trips and bike rides.

We stayed in a small apartment in Narni-Scalo that we booked through AirBnB. It was a 2 minute walk from the mosaic school and the train station. The medieval town of Narni is a 30-40 minute walk up the hill from the modern town of Narni Scalo.

We experienced no difficulty in competing the class without the English interpreter offered by the school. Tiziana made a point to speak slowly in Italian, and repeat herself when needed. It was like having free Italian lessons.

Succede raramente di trovare nella medesima persona professionalità, metodo e mediazione diretta di conoscenze teoriche e soprattutto pratiche. Questo connubio di qualità sono ubicate presso la scuola di mosaico"Intessere" di Narni e dispensate da una insegnante di impagabili capacità: Tiziana. Finora ho frequentato proficuamente due corsi in un clima piacevole e disteso. E non saranno certamente gli ultimi.

Tiziana schafft es, bei einfach jedem die Mosaik-Leidenschaft zu wecken. Die Stunden vergehen wie im Flug und am Ende kann man ein selbstgemachtes Mosaik sein Eigen nennen. Den Kurs kann ich nur empfehlen. Danke Dir Tiziana!
